Not only a rapper, also a developing singer, and a motivator, telling anyone that he is around that they can accomplish whatever goals they can think of. Using a story telling style in which he has dubbed "gentleman's rap" to tell play by play of real life situations in the form of hip hop.

RASHUN FORTUNE – GLOBAL VIBES

POSTED ON:
Dec 26 2016

HHO: Introduce yourself to the fans

Rashun Fortune: Rashun Fortune is a hip hop/rap artist out of Anderson, South Carolina. Currently lives in Raleigh, North Carolina where he graduated from Shaw University. Fortune is an entrepreneur as well as an accomplished lyricist. Being from an area where there is no specific trend of music, he is free make music as he feels. Fortune has been into music since his younger days, joined multiple bands from 12 years old to the present day, he decided that his storytelling ability would be the way that he wants to capture people. Not only a rapper, also a developing singer, and a motivator, telling anyone that he is around that they can accomplish whatever goals they can think of.

HHO: How did your artist name come about?

Rashun Fortune: The name “Rashun” is my middle name. I added “Fortune” to the end because in the end, that’s what I want. The idea came about when I was looking for something to call myself to launch my real career. I used another alias while I was practicing and developing my flow. Then, it just hit me, no extra thought, just came out and it clicked with everybody. And there it was

HHO: Where are you from?

Rashun Fortune: Born in Orangeburg, South Carolina and moved to Anderson, South Carolina before I even knew I was alive so Anderson, South Carolina is the hometown. But I love the whole state, so I’m from SOUTH CAROLINA

HHO: Who were your musical influences growing up?

Rashun Fortune: Grew up with my grandparents on both sides for the most part, so I wasn’t really allowed to watch a lot of “gang music” as they called it [lol] but I liked Michael Jackson, Nelly, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, LL Cool J, Method Man, Red Man, Twista, Lil Jon and the Eastside Boyz, Crime Mobb, Keith Murray, Common, Nas, R. Kelly, Carl Thomas, and honestly, any rap I could get my hands on.

HHO: What hip-hop albums did you grow up listening to?

Rashun Fortune: Jay-Z: The Dynasty; St. Lunatics: Free City; T.I.: Urban Legend; Lil Jon: Crunk Juice; Trillville and Lil Scrappy: Welcome to Trillville; T-Pain: Epiphany; Yung Joc: New Joc City; P$C: 25 to Life; Young Jeezy: Thug Motivation 101, The Recession; I can’t really think of em off top b/c half the time I was listening I was sneaking so I’m sure it’s waaaayyyyy more than that but still

HHO: What is the current single/project that you are promoting?

Rashun Fortune: The single I’m pushing is named “Hula Hoop” fully equipped with all the distributors and a lit video [go get it] and my most recent mixtape entitled “The Purge 2”

HHO: How did the record come about?

Rashun Fortune: I was drunk and Deejaying a house party, I started an instrumental and started freestyling and people just like it…a couple days later I remembered it because somebody showed me a video of it and I actually recorded it.

HHO: What would be your dream collaboration with any rapper or producer?

Rashun Fortune: Me and J. Cole, fire.

HHO: How is the response from your fans & djs been?

Rashun Fortune: To be honest, it’s been doing a lot better than I thought it would. Remaining consistent and constantly growing into my own person has had its benefits. People love my performances and deejays don’t have a problem spinning my music more than once over a night

HHO: What artists do you listen to the most?

Rashun Fortune: Drake, J. Cole, Common, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Young Scooter, Future, Myself [Rashun Fortune],

HHO: What are your plans for 2017? What are you doing that others are not?

Rashun Fortune: In the coming year, I want to launch my career to the point of no return, I want to get to where I can’t walk around by myself anymore. I would love to get on a nationwide tour and start to interview on multiple radio stations. I want to be able to have the time to connect with my fans and get to know you all so I can deliver what you want from me as an artist AND as a person. I say that the main thing that I do that is different than most artists is understand business. If you keep on thinking that your talent alone will take you to the top then I don’t know what to tell you. People gotta eat and YOU [artist] gotta invest. Think about it like this, if nobody is paying, then who is making money?

HHO: How can your fans reach you?

Rashun Fortune:
HMU on all social media, promise I respond bc all we do is talk reckless
www.facebook.com/rashunfortune
www.twitter.com/rashunfortune
www.instagram.com/rashunfortune

HHO: Any last words or shout outs?

Rashun Fortune: I want to thank the people that are truly in my corner and have my back through this musical journey. Thank you to the ones that made me keep pushing when I was ready to put the mic down. I love y’all. At the end of the day, I want to feed my family, start a business to where we can all benefit from it. I’m a solo artist, but Rashun Fortune is a global team.
